Continuation of Surroundings

Zaltbommel is a beautiful old fortified town located along the river Waal. It has a rich history. The town of Heusden, where even on Sundays the shops are open, is a popular attraction for tourists.

The Bommelerwaard region can be best explored by bike. From the dikes you will have stunning views over the water and the washlands where wild horses and cows are grazing. En route you will pass picturesque villages such as Brakel, Zuilichem and Nederhemert or you can visit the famous castles like Loevestein and Ammersoyen. A unique place in the nature developing project Bommelerwaard is Fort St. Andrew, where the 'wild Waal' and 'mild Maas' approach each other closely.

Den Bosch is just around the corner and Utrecht is also easily accessible.
